I was reading poetry last week when I stumbled across this idea: Wilt or Blossom. It stuck with me.
Think of your soul like a flower. Flowers need to be fed to grow – sunlight, water, good soil. Without those things, there’s no chance of survival. And flowers rarely get perfect conditions. The weather gets rough, storms knock them down, they might go a few days without water. But as long as they get what they need, they bounce back. They bloom.
But what happens if a flower is left in the dark too long? No water, no light, no care? It doesn’t just stop growing. It withers and dies.
Your soul works the same way. Life is messy. You’ll struggle. You’ll take hits. You’ll get knocked flat. Sometimes survival means just grinding through. But you can’t starve your soul of what it needs. Starvation leads to withering. Even a little nourishment – whatever feeds you – can bring you back to life.
That nourishment looks different for everyone. For some, it’s work. For others, it’s play, art, helping someone, or maybe riding a motorcycle.
The point is this: don’t forget to feed your soul.
Because no one wants to wilt.
