This week’s ride was a trip. Fourth gear, desert wide open, wind starting to howl. Passing through an empty patch of desert – no plants, no hills, no cover. Just me, the bike, and the horizon.
Then boom! A blast of wind. And up ahead, I see it forming. A dust devil. Small at first. Then bigger. And bigger. It started crossing the road. Right in my path.
Should I stop? Hell no. I dropped the throttle and aimed straight through.
The second I hit it. Sand pelting my face (bad day to wear the open face helmet), the bike shoved sideways by nature, me muscling it back in line. Three seconds of pure chaos.
Then I was out the other side. Laughing like a maniac for the next five minutes.
That’s riding. Unplanned insanity, gone as fast as it came, leaving nothing but adrenaline and a story you can’t wipe off your face.
Damn, I love it.
