Tis the season. If you’re looking for something to watch this holiday season, here’s a list of my favorite Christmas movies.
1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
This is the baseline. If this movie isn’t on at least once in December, something’s off. Every scene is a quote. Every character is unhinged. It’s chaos, family, and holiday stress wrapped in tinsel.
2. Why Him?
Not a classic yet, but it’s earned its spot. Awkward dinners, generational clashes, and James Franco being exactly who he is. This one hits when you want something modern and slightly unhinged.
3. Home Alone
Pure nostalgia. It still works. The traps are ridiculous. The score is perfect. Kevin McCallister remains undefeated. This one feels like being eight years old again, every single time.
4. The Santa Clause
Peak Tim Allen. Cozy, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt. It’s the movie that makes Santa feel official, especially if you’ve got kids watching with you.
5. Die Hard
Yes, it’s a Christmas movie. I will not debate this. Snow falls. Family reunites. Lessons are learned. Plus explosions. Absolute holiday staple.
