For better or for worse, I am me. And let’s be honest, if you know me well, we can all agree it’s for the worse.
Ever since I was a child, I have had 2 unique abilities.
- To never stop talking and always find a way to connect with anyone around me.
- To always be me, in every single scenario.
Whether I’m meeting leaders of the free world or talking to the janitor at my kids school, I am always me.
I talk the same, I act the same, I joke the same, I share my opinions just the same, and I’m a know-it-all-shithead just the same 😂
Sometimes it’s a hindrance. For example, if someone really doesn’t like me, things go nowhere fast. But for the most part, I think people appreciate the authenticity and no-smoke-and-mirrior’s approach to life and relationship building.
If you ask me, be yourself and see where the chips fall. Don’t become such a chameleon to your direct environment that you become more forgetful than rememberable.
Be yourself. Give it a try. I’m willing to bet it’ll do more good than harm.
